Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

In week 6 I worked on another sequence of my animation which involved illustrating different kinds of sushi. Since I wasn’t sure about the style that I would illustrate in I did two versions and asked the class which one they like more and once I was settled on the style, I continued drawing the rest of them.

I also presented my work to the class this week and got lots of great feedback. One of the suggestions was to interview strangers and ask them about their inner child’s favourite food, which is interesting if I decide to expand this project for the second half of the semester. Something else that was pointed out to me by Uyen was to see if I want to continue taking the inside Journey and make the work just about my personal experience or take the journey outside and interview with other people, which is something very important to think about. Another great suggestion was to use text perhaps in English or another language instead of having voice over. I experimented with this suggestion in this week’s work in progress to get a feeling of visually having sushi with the text.

Moving forward I need to stop thinking about the backgrounds, I’ve decided to keep the background plain, because firstly it appears as if my character is immersed in a deep sea of silence and secondly it draws the focus to the character. I also need to start trying different kinds of transitions for these three scenes and continue thinking of ways to animate sushi.
