Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

This week I’m going to talk about something on YouTube I found, usually I don’t really like a the twitch stream culture, but this short film really emotionally yanked my heartstrings about this frog character trying to find a connection with his favourite twitch streamer, but is rejected and tries to find a connection outside of his room, but the two kid skateboarders also follow twitch streamers like the main character, but instead of connecting with him they make fun of him, which makes hide back into his room, I don’t want to spoil the ending so I’ve linked both the first short and second short, so you have context when you watch the second one.

I think what amazes me about these two shorts is it’s made by one person, and if you watch the first short you get a really good understanding of his skill level as animator and how he goes about creating a character emotionally wise the character face is the only thing you see in the short because the rest of his body his hidden under the blankets and if you watch the time lapse video the creator made on his channel you’ll see that the character mesh is just a head and its body is spheres, and I thought that was so clever in terms of work flow, I thought that this is someone who knows their limits and time constraints, even the facial rig is just blendshapes assigned the characters face, it’s so simple but the character is so endearing to me, that I’m a little jealous I didn’t do something like this.

The second video is even more impressive in terms of animation, because you can see their a huge step in quality in animation and also having fully rigged characters with arms and legs all doing subtle but complicated animations, such as a character doing a kickflip on his skateboard.
