Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

This week I was feeling a bit down so I started playing a game called The last guardian developed by Gen Design for the PS4, I’ve played this game a number of times and each revisit, always rejuvenate me, creativity wise, I think a story about kid and his giant robot/monster is one of my favourite story tropes I will never tire of. The game starts with the main character awakens to next him is this huge creature, named Trico, it is injured with two sharp spears yanked into its flesh.

The game gives you control over the kid character and you start learning how to run and climb on platform and pick barrels with green slime in them, and you learn if you chuck them at Trico, he’ll actually gobble them up. You can also climb on Trico and pull the spears out of Trico, and slowly Trico rebuilds it strength and will help the player out of environment and into the rest of the game.

The link I posted goes through the entire procedural animation pipeline used to make Trico a believable character and how they tried to troubleshoot issues that came about when developing it.
