Baymax Dreams

Baymax Dreams is a series of 3 animation short films based on the movie ‘Big Hero 6’, developed using Unity instead of using a traditional animation approach. Through these shorts, the Disney Animation R&D team wanted to use a real-time engine as the foundational production technology and explore the efficiencies of using real-time technology, so they contacted Unity to help them do so. By using Unity to create the animation short, they were able to work as if they were in a live-action set, said the director of the film Simon J. Smith. This project shows us the potential of using real-time engines to develop animation movies and shows us how they can be a better option to using the traditional method.

Coco VR

Coco VR is a VR game created by Magnopus and Pixar using the software Unity, where a player can roam around the ‘Land of the Dead’ from the movie ‘Coco’. This game covers the theme of exploration using Virtual Reality and allows the player to play this game alone or with friends and explore the world of ‘Land of the Dead’ by exploring the area and participating in various events happening around town, like in the movie. This type of project allows us to explore the world of movies and lets us be part of something that would not be possible in the real world. This project shows us the potential of using VR for exploration purposes, may it be exploring a fictional world or real-world locations.

Flappy Bird

Flappy Bird is a mobile game developed by Dong Nguyen. It’s a side-scrolling game, developed in Unity, where the only thing that a player does is tap the screen to control the bird, attempting to fly between the column of pipes. Despite just having one mechanic in the game, this game was considered one of the most addictive and popular games of 2013. The popularity of the game proved that; a game doesn’t have to be complicated to be considered fun to play. This game showed that anyone can develop a game and no matter how simple the game looks if you have fun and have a good game mechanic, the game can be successful.
