RATIONALE

Over the past week, I have been reconsidering and thinking about my first folio plan. I realised that I wanted to take an opportunity to learn and enhance my ability and knowledge in 3D animation and modelling by starting with creating a simple short 3d animation and creating the environment and lighting. More importantly, I can also use this opportunity to learn more about animation storytelling.

CONTEXT

By creating and learning 3D Animation and modelling, I can use this workflow as a VFX workflow. Since the beginning, I've always wanted to focus on applying CGI to live footage in film and video and I recently have been learning to 3D model through Blender. But I won't be only limited to Blender as I want to expand and experiment more in Cinema4D and also (hopefully) Houdini SideFX.

There's a content creator called Ian Hubert and he is a filmmaker with the background of post-production such as VFX compositing, 3D modelling, and 3D Animation specifically for live-action film and videos.

METHOD

The folio that I have been creating and experimenting is supposedly a short animation about a wizard and a samurai looking for a cube in the desert. I have been experimenting with volumetric lightings (god rays) and creating a world environment like the desert, as well as creating a simple walking animation through a pre-rigged character by only using Blender. I will continue to learn Blender, but I won't be limited to just that.

PRODUCTION

My main tool was After Effects and Premiere Pro, but over the past week, I have been exploring more techniques in Blender and I will continue to do so. I will also be learning Cinema 4D to not only limit myself in a single program.
