Week 9 WIP

In week 9, I aim to complete two other shots for the water droplet creatures. Although spending most of my time animating, I still couldn’t finish the second shot. The second shot is 3/4 done and I aim to finish it first thing in week 10.

For the first shot, I mostly focus on the different movements the water droplets could play with. I animated jumping, bouncing, as well as rolling. I also tried to apply different characteristics to the water droplets. Some are being cautious and some are just reckless. When creating this vignette, I found a few problems with the rig I created. But since they won’t cause major problems in my animation, I animated them in another way to cover it up.

I uploaded the shot into the MAGI 2D Animation club and received a few feedback regarding the weight problem of the water droplets when bumping each other and the motion of the water droplet that is bouncing on the leaf. I will re-examine my shot next week and take the feedback into consideration when fixing the flaws in the animation.

For the second shot, I’m still working on the flower blossom part of the animation. I wanted this shot to be more light-hearted instead of funny as my other shots. Therefore, I created a shot for three water droplets to work together. It took me some time to get them into a position that I like and to design their action accordingly. I intended to add in a firefly animation like the animation vignette I completed in week 8.

As for the sound of the animation, I will look for them and try them out when the animation vignettes of the water droplets are completed.

I hope to start animating the seaweed creature animation in week 10 as well. But before that, I’ll need to create the rig for it. My aim for week 10 will be successfully creating the rig for the seaweed creature as well as at least animating one shot for the seaweed creature. In the meantime, I’ll keep gathering feedback from peers and improving my animation shots.
