Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

Today was frustrating AF.

I spent the entire day coding and learning how to code in Java. I worked on Chris Barkers suggestion of having a blank screen and for it to light up upon face detection. The seemingly simple task took way too long to come around and even at the end of the day it wasn't fully functional.

I tried animating plane to start the experience, I used post effects to fade in and disabling the UI but all of that failed. Miserably.

In the end, I did something I never thought I'd do. I wrote my own code from whatever little understanding I got so far.

It worked!

I managed to get the fade in from black working. That unfolded a new problem which was reverting back to black when face lost. Chris Barker missed his train and gave me an idea on how to deal with that. But that's a task for another day.

I took some time to speak with Matthew to explore the possibilities of this project and he gave me some interesting insights in terms of making the experience more mine as an art director. A frustratingly long day, but progress in the end.

My peers from the studio were very helpful.
