Aim

Using lines or solid shapes to create animated machines that highlight the interactions between objects with material is the key.

Method

I drawed a simple movement of a hand slapping one object, and explored how different materials would react to the movement.

Result

I thought of different materials/characters/ adjectives each time to apply to the objects and tried to animate how they would respond to the impact of the movement on them. I turned the animated lines into shapes, starting with a similar position, but then eventually ended up with different outcomes.

After that, I put on some colours to see how the contrast works or somehow contribute to make the animation look better. .

Reflection

Having this exercise to do is a “refresh button” to my mind, since I have been stuck with the thought of how to make the fighting scene look more complicated the whole time. Exploring movements and morphing/ transforming objects remind me of how simple and correct movements can contribute to make a great whole picture. However, I didn't have much to do with the colours on this one, and that keeps me from wondering if I missed out a point to my project. There was one thing that I observed when I quickly changed the background colours through the subtle movements: the flash makes the hit seem more stiff and adds more richness to the action. I will keep this in mind if I need to work on the background colours/ characters colours schemes.
