Animated Narratives W6 - Character and Dialogue

This storyboard examines the ideas of how dialogue helps us to see the characters. By using dialogues from the boy and the small fish, I am able to demonstrate how twist happens while a boy is acting to fool the fish and the poor ones are caught due to their negligence.

Similar work can be seen in the animation Connected(2021), in which the change-over-time conversations between the dad and daughter display how this father is out of reaching the digital natives' life. By examing Joslyn Chase's journal Why Is Dialogue Important? 7 Roles Dialogue Plays in a Story, I reflected that dialogue in a storyboard should deliver a unique flavor as the character speaks, and expresses his internal thoughts, emotions and opinions. Another point is dialogue helps to create suspense if possible. Thinking through these. I decided to use few dialogues but more hilarious laughing sounds to reflect the personalities of the witty boy and careless fishes in this story.
