I am currently working on a 5 second gif of 2 characters fighting. Having completed the skeleton of one character the other day, I spent today animating the skeleton of the attacker.
I wanted to combine my learnings the last couple of weeks and add some abstraction to the sequence, so when the attacked flips and hits the ground, they burst into many pieces. I am tossing up whether I want to have them blow up like the hand mutation gif, or if I want them to shatter like glass. For this skeleton animation, I have had them shatter into particles, but I have room to change this up down the track as I continue to refine it.
I loved playing with time in this sequence. The slow motion effect in the start was actually an accident, but I love the pacing of it and how you have this pause before the shattering motion. I finf that Pose to Pose is really good for adding or deleting extra frames in a sequence and I did this frequently when I felt that the motion wasn't quite passing through time in a way that looked right.
