NAME OF WORK: Shake Your Bird

NAME OF DIRECTOR: Siyuan Liu(James Monash)

DIRECTION SECTION

With this work, I intend to explore the ideas of haptic feedback and human computer interaction. This idea is, essentially to understand how could existing games be designed or redesigned to support engaging experiences in order to facilitate social and physical health benefits. Important to the work is to get the basic logic sense of coding in unity. The idea will be expressed as a haptic feedback game that use leg shaking frequency to control the”Flappy Bird”.

ARGUMENT/RATIONALE/GAP SECTION

The reason for doing this work is I am an alive example who have leg shaking hobby and can barely find the proper way to release this anxiety, so why shouldn’t I “recycle” this spare energy and use it in the game? If successful, the work will exhibit excellence in simple but unique game mechanic(leg shaking) which not much people have ever thought about a bad hobby could be used in a decent good way, and eventually get rid of it(cure).

CONTEXT SECTION

Similar works such as:

Chicken Scream”   --- different concept but it uses haptic feedback as game mechanic.

Zombie run

and tons of exertion game related research in exertion games lab I have to dig further.

METHOD SECTION

The materials I intend to use are unity engine and arduino board, theoretically I am planning to finish that basic “Flappy Bird”(could be optimized through progress, but it is now a perfect medium to present my idea) game in unity and code arduino pressure sensor to input leg shaking frequency to achieve controlling Flappy Bird in Unity.http://www.uniduino.com
