The purpose of this project is to create a fantasy exploratory VR expedience focused on highlighting and educating the importance of fungi in our ecosystems . The project aims to bridge scientific information with a serial visual style ultimately achieving an experience that is both informative and captivating.
Although the outcome is educationally focused; as far as the art direction is concerned, I would like to make use of the potential for VR as a medium and draw inspiration from serialist dream landscapes. My favorite aspect of animation is that it does not have to conform to the conventional rules of reality. I would aim to play with this as a way of highlighting the almost otherworldly nature of fungi. This pre-production document intends to show the visual development and the production of an early release tailor, intended to be the projects minimum viable product.
Why am i making it?
A large motivator for this project would be to further develop and showcase my understanding of the 3D production pipe line. specifically in regards to animation modeling and texturing. Mycology however is a personal interest of mine and I would love to be able to use my knowledge of 3D design to promote this subject in a creative and captivating way. I believe Mycology to be an emerging industry which has the potential to lead to many solutions for our modern problems such as unsustainable industries, environmental pollution and exaggerate weather systems.
