This week, we were asked to design a playable project related to someplace. 

Theme: Play and place

Context:

Game - Ingress

This game is an augmented reality game created by Niantic. As the game grows, people submit the photos to the Niantic review, which will eventually become the portal in the game. The game is played by creating a field with three portals. This sometimes requires cooperation, and people often even create huge field across different countries.

Method:

For this topic, at first, I created two different concepts:
1. Post blank posters in public areas, let people graffiti their own image and describe the difference between one place and another by depicting a place's people on a collectively created picture.
2. Place a blank notebook in a public area, write down the guiding questions, and ask them about their memories of the place.

All these two concepts related to the cooperative narrative. 

After I decided to locate the location of the library, I realized that the story Solitaire is a good game can be played in the library: I can ask players to pick up a book then pick a word in any page, then create a sentence and write it down. With many people, we can create a story.

Result: 

I chose a place near the bookshelf and entrance, drew a piece of paper on the library, explained the rules and deadlines of the game, and invited others to create. Considering that some people may not have a pen, I left a pen and an extra spare paper and waited for the result.

The next day, someone participated in my game and continued to write the story.
